Ugen Trading Private Limited (UTPL), through its earthmoving division Ugen Earthmovers, officially inaugurated its new JCB dealership facility in Babesa, Thimphu, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Bhutan’s access to advanced construction machinery and after-sales support.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by His Excellency Lyonpo Gem Tshering, Hon’ble Minister for Energy and Natural Resources, and Mr Deepak Shetty, Group Executive Director, and CEO & MD of JCB India Limited, along with senior representatives from JCB India, government agencies, industry partners, and key clients.
The event also featured the official launch of the 52-tonne JCB 520X LC excavator, the largest JCB excavator introduced in Bhutan to date. The machine is expected to support large-scale infrastructure projects across sectors such as hydropower, mining, and construction.
Speaking at the event, Mr Deepak Shetty, Group Executive Director, and CEO & MD of JCB India Limited, highlighted the long-standing partnership between JCB and Bhutan and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Bhutan’s infrastructure development through modern, efficient, and reliable machinery solutions.
Lyonpo Gem Tshering, in his keynote address, acknowledged the importance of strengthening Bhutan’s construction capabilities and welcomed private sector initiatives that enhance access to modern technologies and equipment for national development.
The new facility will serve as a dedicated showroom, service, and support centre for JCB equipment in Bhutan, enabling Ugen Earthmovers to provide enhanced customer service, technical expertise, spare parts availability, and training for operators and technicians.
As part of the ceremony, symbolic JCB key handovers were presented to valued clients, who ordered recently, followed by the unveiling of the facility plaque and a cake-cutting ceremony commemorating JCB Bhutan’s 20th anniversary.
The event marks another step in the growing partnership between Ugen Earthmovers and JCB India, aimed at strengthening Bhutan’s construction ecosystem and supporting the country’s emerging infrastructure and economic development needs.
